Role Description

We are seeking an innovative and hands-on Volunteer AI Product Engineer - Intern to help build and scale AI-driven tools that enhance the RISE2GETHER community experience. In this role, you will design and develop intelligent applications that address real community needs, integrating AI solutions seamlessly into our existing platforms. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to prototype rapidly, test new ideas, and iterate based on user feedback. Your work will directly contribute to RISE2GETHER’s mission of empowering Asian women by leveraging technology to create smarter, more personalized, and impactful digital experiences.

Responsibilities

As a Volunteer AI Product Engineer - Intern, you will:

  • Design and develop AI-powered tools and applications.

  • Collaborate with the team to translate community needs into technical solutions.

  • Connect AI tools with existing platforms.

  • Prototype quickly, test new ideas, and refine based on feedback.

Preferred Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who bring most of the following:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field with an expected graduation date in 2026 or 2027

  • Formal training in computer science, data science, machine learning, or a related field through a college program or immersive training

  • Strong Python programming skills, including experience with libraries like pandas, numpy, and transformers

  • Familiarity with building or integrating AI/ML models (e.g., using OpenAI API, Hugging Face, LangChain, TensorFlow, or PyTorch)

  • Knowledge of RESTful API design

  • Familiarity with databases (SQL and NoSQL)

  • Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure preferred)

  • Fluency in Git for version control and collaboration within a team

  • Self-directed, with the ability to take ownership of projects while collaborating closely across teams
